PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) is the threshold licence ie: the minimum qualification required.
In simple terms, our course can provide you with the qualification you need; the ‘basic tool kit’ of teaching skills, the confidence to put these skills into practice and, the background knowledge and skills to progress to further qualifications should you wish to do so. Course OverviewIn order to successfully complete the PTLLS course, you will need to:-
- Attend all sessions
- Complete all assignments
- Complete a Reflective Practice Journal (RPJ).
- Deliver a 15 minute micro-teach
The PTLLS course has 5 components or Learning Outcomes. These are to:-
- Understand own role, responsibilities and boundaries of role in relation to teaching.
- Understand appropriate teaching and learning approaches in the specialist area.
- Demonstrate session planning skills.
- Understand how to deliver inclusive sessions which motivate learners.
- Understand the use of different assessment methods and the need for record keeping.
Each of these are broken down into a number of assessment criteria for which you will need to provide evidence. Much of this evidence will be generated by activities you will complete as part of the course. You will also need to complete a number of assignments in order to meet the assessment criteria. You will be given structured guidelines and resources to help you with these assignments.
